2014 Central Plains Regional 1-Week Civilian Training

Overview:

The Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) is pleased to offer you a five-day training opportunity, Addressing the Psychological Health of Warriors and their Families, in St. Louis, MO from 9-13 June 2014. CDP's mission is to prepare mental health providers to meet the needs of service members and their families. We offer one-week programs four times per year in different regions throughout the country.

Advanced registration for the St. Louis event has closed. For details regarding on-site registration, please email Cmyers@deploymentpsych.org

While we recognize that many individuals may be interested in this course, the material is not designed for, and may not be appropriate for, non-mental health professionals and those who are not working with this population. Interested Active Duty mental health providers can contact the CDP to inquire about other workshops designed specifically for them.

This one-week course provides training on deployment-spectrum behavioral health concerns facing the military population. Workshop attendees will have the choice to attend one of two training tracks:

1)    PTSD Track:  2-hour session on deployment-related sleep problems and 2-day skills based training in
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), an evidence-based treatment for PTSD

2)    Health Psychology Track:  2-hour module on assessment and treatment of PTSD, 1-day course on Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and 1-day course on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Chronic
       Pain.

Both training tracks will feature sessions on:

  • Deployment cycle stress for service members and families
  • Identification and treatment of deployment-related depression and suicide
  • Substance abuse
  • Assessment & Treatment of PTSD
  • Ethics

Please Note:  Although we recommend attending the full program, we recognize being away from the office for a week may be difficult for some providers. Therefore, participants may choose to attend individual sessions. For the select content (i.e., PTSD Track or Health Psychology Track), participants may choose to attend individual sessions within their chosen track. In the PSTD Track, PE is a two-day session and participants must attend both days.

Cost:

This five-day training, which includes all handouts, materials, training booklets and CE credits (more than 30 are possible) costs $95, regardless of the number of sessions attended. Participants are responsible for their own travel and expenses.

Seating is limited so early registration is suggested.
